Today I scouted mushrooms on my walk up the driveway to the mailbox. I tried to collect a variety as there were so many of the little fungi sprouting up. I think that is chantarelle in the lower left, but I'm not certain as there is a "False" chantarelle variety. Special finds for the day are on the right side of pic, midway. The purple mushroom is psilocybin and the tan with white spots is an amanita gemmata...I'm pretty sure. I took a guided mushroom walk a couple years back. Let me tell you, it is a lifelong endeavor to identify the gazillion varieties. Many times the identification is not done by looking at the cap, but rather by the underside of the cap. It's complicated.
For the 8 years we've lived here, my mushroom walks have been primarily astride my BEST FRIEND FOR LIFE, Buffy. However, I retired Buffy at the end of summer. He is 28 years old, so he has certainly earned retirement. And of course I still spend time with him everyday, but I do miss our rides together. He has been mine for over 21 years; I love him more everyday.

Wow---that looks like something out of Martha Stewart. Seriously---that is quite an impressive collection of fungi.
I can't believe that's just on the way to your mailbox!
Poor Buffy. I bet he misses your walks, too.
Oh---and in a previous post---10 minutes? You've got to be kidding. It takes me 10 minutes to find my glue.
What a beautiful horse. He looks like an old friend. Lucky you.
A horse is a loyal best friend! I miss our horses, they were such fun.
