In preparation for our trip to Oahu, to celebrate our 25th anniversary, I decided, at the last minute, that I would like a journal after all. I had been going back/forth on this in my mind for a while. Then I picked-up my order of Graphic 45's new Bird Song collection...and I knew I just had to make stuff with it. And, while I don't often journal, I have journaled while traveling on our past few trips. Above is the cover of the special Oahu album...still lots more to make (OH, SO MUCH FUN!). I started with an inexpensive chipboard album I got on sale a few months ago. I covered it with Bird Song papers; the interior pages will be made from that collection, too. I like it so much I had a hard time cutting into the paper. I bought a 12"x12" pad and a 8"x8" pad. It is easier for me to cut the 8x8, the size of this album.
For every trip I take, I now use a travel folder for my documents. A couple years ago I came upon a YouTube video that Karla Nathan filmed showing how to make these simple folders. I have made many, based on the theme of my trip. They are a terrific way to keep boarding passes, reservation docs, maps, etc handy and organized. If you want the link to Karla's video let me know.
I keep my "immediate need" docs in the center pocket and my future or completed docs on the right.
Lastly I made myself a bookmark for the hardcover I'm taking: GONE GIRL. I am excited to read this as I sneaked a preview and it is riveting. My vacation schedule? Sleep, eat, swim, snorkel, read, repeat.
