I don't usually make things to keep for myself. Often I make something tailored to the recipient, like a birthday gift or simply a Thank You trinket. Since I've begun to make these metal findings collages, while learning, I decided to keep my projects for me. When I saw this hippocampus at bsueboutiques I ordered it immediately. And it comes in pairs!! I'm tempted to make a single earring from the 2nd charm...with complimentary charm for the other earring. Perhaps.
For this necklace I used a patined brass heart stamping as the background, layering the fantasy horse on top of a Tim Holtz pewter wreath charm (mostly covered), then kept adding old pearls, tiny metal feathers, etc...all e6000'd into place. I set the vintage flat back "heliotrope" stone at the upper left of the focal point, encasing it into a bead cap. Besides BSue's products, I used a number of things from BumbershootSupplies.
This is lightweight and comfortable. I cannot wear heavy jewelry around my neck or earrings. These wonderful brass stampings are very light even though they look substantial.
This was the first round of design. I like to take a pic of the work in progress. It helps me to see if something is out of place or looks unfinished. Yup, unfinished it was, so I got to go back in and have more fun.
