For a few weeks now I've been thinking that my wardrobe needs an update. Adding color would be good to brighten up my usual neutrals. So today was THE day. I was going to town to grocery shop, and that great Uptown Gig Harbor is just across the street.

First stop was
Coldwater Creek, 'cause the last time I had bought real clothes (aka, something
not from Target or
TJMaxx) I shopped at Chico's. Why not give the other stores a chance? I tried on several skirts and several blouses, and even a
faux leather gold jacket. Endless "trying-on" and checking the big mirrors outside the dressing room for each style. Remember I was going for color? Right, well, there was plenty of color, but not quite the right hues, apparently. What caught my fancy was this black silk blouse...in a petite size for sleeves that weren't too long.

The other blouse I liked, and that liked me, was this ivory romantic number. Also in a petite size. I mention this because I am 5'7", hardly petite. But for
Coldwater Creek sizes, I guess I am.

Next was J. Jill. The skirts at CC weren't flattering; believe me I tried. But this one at
JJ looked good, fit well, and, FINALLY, something that was on sale. But you notice the absence of color here? Still these 3 pieces will fit right in with my "good clothes", and I can always add jewelry and scarves. Lastly was a visit to the new shoe store, Indigo Plum. In the window was my dream boot, the Frye Paige tall boot! And only $310!
Those will have to wait.

You're so funny!
I always leave my 'need wardrobe staples' shopping trips with impractical items.
I went shopping for black pants, a brown pair of boots, and a white shirt recently and came away with:
-one lavender velvet tank dress
-deep wine lace tiered skirt
-vivid pink cotton sweater
-bright olive velvet tunic
Maybe we should go shopping together? We'd probably end up with some awful puke shades of useless clothing. We might cancel each other out, you know?
