Beginning Calligraphy

Sister loaned me a "how to" book on calligraphy. I have only one question: How do I get this ink off my hands?! Ah, the joys of learning.

Oh boy! Calligraphy is so rewarding. To me, anyway. I actually do it(very occassionally) professionally.

I always wear thin medical gloves when I'm working. At least on my writing hand. That stuff is a bugger to remove, and I'm not very patient. Throwing a glove away is so quick and easy.

There are such great inks and pens out there. Are you using a standard nib? Are you dipping and writing? Fun!!!!

The one script I'm really awful at happens to be my favorite---Copperplate. There are cockamamie nibs and pen attachments to help you fake a left-handed slant, but I don't use them very well. The only person I know who does Copperplate well IS left handed, come to think of it.

I remember my mom doing calligraphy and looking through her how to books. I need to get those out, it is fun to do!

Thanks for your comment and thanks for the sweet potato recipe! My hubby will love it!
