Using the Good Stuff

That fun loving gal, Karla, challenged her friends to let go of their inner hoarder and use the good supplies they have been saving for...what? I admit to being reluctant to use those things in my stash that are, maybe vintage and irreplacable?, or really cute?, or maybe just a little expensive to use in a paper project? So I combined a need for a travel journal with the freedom to use whatever I wanted to use regardless of value. While I was in the zone, I made a quick journal for Garrett. You do know that he and I leave in 5 days for KONA HAWAII?! ps you must make you way over to Karla's post. while I eeked out 1 thing for this good stuff challenge, she produced many charming pretties. she has the best stash on the continent.
Understand that there is nothing of monetary value here. But I banished all hesitation along the lines of "well, I maybe if I save it I will find a better place for this special little doo-dad..."
I used some of my gilded scrap alphabet, most of a packet from 7 Gypsies of heavy card stock ephemera, old velvet ribbon, acetate transparancies, using staples liberally. Since this will serve as a place to record my thoughts and gather momentos, I didn't tart it up with tons of gee-gaws. Hopefully, those will be added later :>
This is my first home-made journal. I think this may start a trend.

A trip to Hawaii deserves the fancy stuff to hold the memorabilia! I'm glad you "let go of your inner hoarder!"

Your travel journal is wonderful- I love 7 Gypsies, too- and I'm always "really careful" about what I use it on- for years to come, you're going to be so glad you made the journal with the "good stuff".

All of this would have been my good stuff, too! I love what you did with it. I need to make a journal from my Paris trip -- everything I want to use is in a basket... maybe now I can add some motivation to it all and get those things OUT of the basket~

I love your journal, and having used some of the special things you've been saving will only enhance the experience of writing about your trip, and make for a truly lovely momento. I hope you have a wonderful time.

Thank you for participating in the 'good stuff' challenge.

I think a lot of us had the same idea for either journals of some sort, or altered books etc. I love the vintage look you used!

You did a beautiful job and it's going to be so much fun gathering things to "fill in the blanks" on your trip. And hopefully a few extras to bring home and add to your stash, as well! 8+)

Love your little travel journal. I just found some old bingo cards at a sale last week and am going to use them in a future project. Cute idea!

Thanks for coming by! I have to admit this challenge was a toughie because you just have to let go. Once again, I love your cards and how you used them!

Oh I love this idea! Not just creating with abandon for what to save and what to use, but having a journal when you start out your vacay. You have made such a great keepsake. Can't wait to see it filled. Have fun in Kona!
