A couple of months ago I bought an online course on jewelry making by Andrea Singarella. I've watched the very informative and useful videos many many times, but I didn't pull out my jewelry tools until this week. While I have a good supply of beads and findings, I had to look hard for the vintage bits to create the look I was going for. I did need to order the ribbon clamps to make these bookmarks, and some velvet ribbon, and cabochon tags, and rhinestone chain crimps (Michael's had none of this)...s-l-o-w-l-y the supplies are coming in by mail. While I wait for the ribbon, I spent a couple fun hours making these 2 bookmarks and taking apart old jewelry to create a few charms.
Above is a photo of Andrea's lovely vintage bookmarks. Her jewelry is so pretty and really inspired me to make some bookmarks for gifts. If you have any interest in making your own bracelets, earrings and necklaces I recommend buying Andrea's workshop. It is only $10 for priceless tips and techniques...but the course expires the end of December.
I had another vision for the "ribbon"...using old fabric. My fabric stash is low on vintage barkcloth but I had a cotton floral print that also worked. I find the process of making jewelry and making these fabric tubes requires manual dexterity which is not a strong skill for me. Practice makes perfect?!

Your bookmarks are wonderful. Love the addition of jewelry bits and bobs. I actually like your fabric strips the best. Creative Bliss...
They are just plain wonderful out of old fabrics!
