I started a second assembly line, A Gilded Life style. Since joining their Stash Society I've made 3 of the projects. Well, multiples of the 3 projects 'cause they are so darn fabulous. Here we have Dream Catchers, designed by Kimberly Laws.
I formed a hoop using rebar wire, which I believe is 16 or 18 gauge. I made a circle following the shape of an embroidery hoop, used duct tape to secure the 2 ends, then covered the black wire with masking tape. I used fabric glue to attach my background lace to the hoop, then decorated with some of the goodies from the June Stash Society kit. My camera is doing a poor job of capturing the details but you might get a better look by clicking on the pic to enlarge it. I used 2 old crochet scallops to form the center medallion; placing a piece of vintage sequin and bead applique on top with a old heart pendant. These last 2 elements I bought at the Rose Bowl flea market. I stitched on the center piece rather than glue. I added seam binding and some pearls for good measure.
This one is smaller, but follows the same process...except fabric glue wouldn't hold the lace so I used hot glue. That center embroidered piece is some of the most fab lace I've found so I hoard it. The buttons are a mix of old and new; some tulle along with seam binding for the streamers and a ring of old lace around the top. I'm going to keep one of these and give the other to one of my BFF's for her birthday. I've got the base of one more ready to decorate. As usual, I dither forever over a design. One of the hardest parts for me? Remembering what is in my stash I can use...and where is it?
