Day at the Theatre

Today my sister and I spent a couple of fun hours crafting our Pumpkin Theatres. A bought two small styrofoam pumpkins at Rite Aid a couple weeks ago; hollowed them out with a box cutter and spoon. I glittered the inside of mine (below), but left Sister's alone as I didn't want to tamper with her vision. Rightly so as she filled her hollow with reindeer moss, adding her glittered ballerina paper-doll and accoutrement up front.
Here is my vision...all dark and dank and scary. Dang, I'm gonna have to re-do that black crepe paper ruffle. Thank you, Ulla, for the inspiration and all the great class samples.
I covet all things Napoleonic (especially Donna O'Brien's large Napoleon hats!). Ulla taught a class with this boy's (and a girl's) chapeau, so I did make one, even if it is tiny. I'm still scheming on how to make a larger one. This crude badge, mounted on a painted-black-matchbox was inspired by a pretty that Donna had on display at the TnT show. I'm still working out the kinks for my version. Aura likes the Spinner Toy I posted yesterday, but couldn't read the words. Well, I can't read it either it is so small. Thank you, Aura! Now I know what my next project will be. ps You can find Ulla's blog and Donna's (The Ribboned Crown) blog on My Favorites list.

I'm apparently finger-challenged. That was ME yesterday, not 'Aura'. However, that reminds me of an embarassing thing....in college, there were THREE Laura-s in an art class, so I decided I could be referred to as 'Aura'. Gross. Hippie phase?

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the creepy black night with the glittery crepe-y-ness and the tree and wolf and fluttery things in the wind. That is SPECIAL! I think that's my favorite thing you've done. WOW! That is just so fairytale-ish but sinister all at the same time. That is MAGAZINE-WORTHY.

I'm so envious of your craft night with your sister. I sure would love a sister or a friend to putz around with over wine or tea and cakes and such. Maybe my daughter and I will be able to do things like that together. I sure hope so!

Oh--I also really like that Nina Simone song. I have a recording of her singing 'Violet Wine'--so dramatic. She had such a unique voice and played the piano beautifully. I love how deep her voice is.
